Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Georgian Chippendale style mahogany upholstered rectangular duet stool, constructed during the late Victorian period, circa 1890, which has been newly upholstered and is excellent condition.
The seat itself is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the upholstery, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. The hinged seat lifts open to reveal an internal storage compartment; ideal for the storage of sheet music, if the item is used as a piano stool. The seat lid will remain open until you close the solid brass-folding hinges on either side. The compartment roof retains the original mahogany panels to the inside of the lid, as well as the original mahogany base. The perimeter of the frame features gadroon carvings, while the stool is raised on four elegant cabriole legs, which boast acanthus leaf carvings to the knees and terminate on ball & claw feet.

Seat Depth = 40.6cm or 16” or 1ft 4”
Condition Report:

This stool is in excellent condition. It has been newly upholstered in top quality cream coloured floral pattern structured cotton & silk, finished with matching braiding. The seat itself is firm and is very comfortable to sit on or rest your feet. The upholstery is therefore new, clean and free from any wear, dirt or damage. The stool has been French polished in our workshops. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the mahogany frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The internal compartment is completely original with the original working brass stays. Importantly, there are no breaks to the legs or frame. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
