Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The case opens by a push of a button on the side which operates the spring loaded mechanism. Inside reveals two compartments for 2 sovereigns. The inside of the lid reveals the clear hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1906 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. Partial marks are also visible on the frame of each sovereign compartment (see images). The case closes nicely with a firm click. There is a good loop to one side for attachment.

A lovely Sovereign case beautifully intact and in great antique collector's condition. Very tactile piece, feels lovely to hold in the hand!
