Description

A very impressive Art Deco silver Cigarette Box, by the renowned maker's: Mappin & Webb. This rectangular shaped box is decorated with a handsome engine turned pattern to both the lid and the sides with a neat plain polished border around the edges. There is an empty cartouch in the centre of the lid. Underneath the box is a brown leatherette finish. The lid is hinged and when opened a wooden interior is revealed with two separate compartments. On one side of the box and also on the side of the lid are the clear and crisp hallmarks for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1926 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. The maker's marks for Mappin & Webb are also clearly visible.

The box is an ideal size and would also be ideal as a Trinket/ Jewellery box.

A superb item, the quality of the silver maker is evident!
