Technical Description
A WMF art nouveau silver plate coffee pot. The body is hexagonal with cast floral decoration.
The piece is supported by six scroll feet and is marked below as follows; Ostrich mark and WMF G within a rhombus inside a hatched square. Donating the origin of the piece. ‘B’ = Britannia metal base, ‘I/O’ = Regular silver coating ‘AS’ = Antique silver finish.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time the ‘DELAG’ Zeppelin dirigible, Deutschland, made the first commercial passenger flight from Friedrichshafen to Düsseldorf. A nine hour flight.
