This is gorgeous!
A highly stylised candle holder, made by the highly regarded German firm, WMF.
The marks on the base are quite informative and enable us to date this item between around 1910 - 1918. (Marks: ''B'' means Britannia metal, a zinc-antimony-copper alloy which served as a base metal for silver plating, ''I/O'' means normal silver coating, ''OX'' means oxidized finish).
There are a few marks on the kite-shaped base, the purpose of which is a mystery. The item could be used as a ''go to bed'' candle holder or chamberstick, but that seems unlikely as, by carrying it, the helmeted warrior is covered.
An interesting, tactile piece.
