Antique Victorian Solid Silver Mounted Claret Jug

Description

A lovely example of a Victorian solid sterling silver mounted claret jug.

The elongated clear glass body has engraved foliate scrolls below a silver collar. The solid silver lid is well-attached and the hinge is good. The angular handle has an attractive scroll end and scroll details halfway up each side. The glass is very fine and light.

The silver is hallmarked for Sheffield 1901 and the maker's mark for James Deakin & Sons.

Height: 30cm

Width: 14cm

Diameter of base: 11.5cm.
