Fine Hammered Finish Silver Vesta Case Birmingham 1905

1900 - 1920
Description

An exquisite and perfectly designed Edwardian solid silver Vesta case with a wonderful hammered finish to both the front and back and an empty cartouch in the centre of the front. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly. When opened clear hallmarks are visible on the inside lip of the Vesta for the Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1905 and the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark for Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings (Frank Shepherd).

 

An unusual Vesta feels lovely to hold in the hand.

  

Condition: Great antique condition.
