ANTIQUE #SA600314

Victorian Provincial Silver Cream Jug

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Chequers Antiques

A charming Victorian provincial silver baluster cream jug made by James and Josiah Williams in their Bristol workshop and hallmarked in Exeter in 1854. It stands on three little pad feet and is decorated with flowers and scrolls and has a scrolling handle. This is a relatively unusual piece because the Exeter Assay Office closed in 1883 due to lack of use; mostly it was used by a small number of Bristol and Plymouth silversmiths marking flatware.
