Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Fine engraving to both the top and bottom, and unusually also around the sides, with a small diamond shaped empty cartouch in the centre of the top with an unusual design to the engraving at the bottom - simply exquisite. Inside the Vinaigrette the the grill is equally attractive with a lovely swirling design. The hinge to one side works well and the lid closes perfectly. There is a loop on one side for attachment.

The vinaigrette is fully hallmarked for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark of 1873 and silver maker's mark for the eminent Victorian silversmith: George Unite.
This is a stunning Vinaigrette - ideal for a collector!
