Description

A very collectable, superb silver Vinaigrette. William IV and fully hallmarked on the inside for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark of 1831 and maker's mark for Thomas Shaw. The engraving to both the top and bottom can only be described as exquisite, the top bears a floral design and is finely engraved in the centre with the words ' A token of Gratitude' , and the bottom an elegant engraving of a sprig of flowers framed by a charming border. Inside the vinaigrette has been gilded and is a lovely soft lemony colour. The grill is equally attractive with a swirling design. The hinge to one side works well and the lid closes perfectly.

This is a beautiful item - ideal for a serious collector of Vinaigrettes.

Condition: In great antique collector's condition.
