Edwardian Solid Silver Frame with Shakespeare Quotation

1900 - 1920
Description

This is unusual - a solid sterling silver photo frame with a quotation from Shakespeare's Hamlet.

It is a shaped, square outline with heavily embossed floral decoration in the Art Nouveau taste incorporating the quotation in a cartouche at the top. The circular picture aperture has a diameter of 6cm. The frame itself is 11cm sq.

It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1904, with the maker's mark of Gourdel Vales & Co.

The silver is in excellent condition, apart from wear to one small high spot in the bottom left hand corner.

Post and packaging are free within the UK via Royal Mail special delivery. Overseas buyers please e-mail for postage costs. Thank you.
