Description
Dating from around the late Victorian period, this large copper and steel lantern was once lit by gas and converted to electricity some time ago. It has been totally rewired to UK specifications to take a single standard lightbulb. The light comes with the original cast iron wall fitting which is 88cm in length, the angled section where the lantern sits is 66.5cm and it has six ready prepared holes to attach the bracket to a wall. The whole thing measures 86cm in height- including the little bun feet that fit into the square section of the frame. The glass panels are 45cm in length, 42.5cm wide at the top and 19.5cm at the bottom. The finial on top of the light is about 29.5cm in height, and the square copper top is 43cm square - it is a striking item in good condition for it's age.
