Rare Green Glass Match Striker Silver Rim London 1901

A very rare and unusual, Edwardian, stunning green glass match striker with neat silver rim. The glass has a threaded surface for striking non safety matches. Not only is the Striker an unusual colour on the outside, the inside has a layer of clear glass and the base is also clear. The silver rim on the top is hallmarked for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1901 and maker's mark for the Silversmith Sanders & Aquilar. It stands nice and solid and is a good weight when picked up.

 

A very sought-after and collectable antique.

 

Condition: This match striker is in great antique condition. There are some very tiny nibbles to the surface of the green glass that are hardly noticeable to the naked eye but are visible in a close up camera shot (please see images for verification).

 

Hallmarks and maker's marks: London 1901 by Sanders & Aquilar.
