Early Victorian Silver Plated Hip Flask

19th century
Description

This is an early Victorian silver plated on Britannia metal and glass hip flask. It was made circa 1845 by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield.

It is monogrammed 'CR' to the cartouche at the front. The rest of the silver plated section is machine turned.

Unfortunately the lid is stuck fast so the hip flask cannot currently be opened. Some of the silver plating is wearing off and it shows signs of wear. The glass doesn't appear to be cracked or chopped at all.
