Antique Edwardian Silver Pocket Watch Holder And Ink Well

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is a wonderful, heavy and tactile item for the desk. A solid sterling silver-topped ink well which incorporates a pocket watch stand.

The silver is hallmarked for Birmingham 1905. The maker''s mark has been stamped twice and is not clear. The removable back cover is a replacement - also fully hallmarked and with matching blue velvet interior.

The glass sides and top are clear, the base is cut beautifully and the edges are faceted. The plain hinged cover opens to reveal the pocket watch stand. This watch is included in the sale. It is not my area of expertise so I have only a little information to impart: It is a crown wind silver pocket watch. The case is, I believe, unmarked silver and inside it is stamped with the words ''Cylindre Huit Rubis''. It has an engine turned decoration on the back of the case with an empty cartouche. It is working.
