The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the 1940s.
Both the silver and glass are in excellent condition. The glass has applied gold leaves which run around the base and encircle the small dome at the top of the lid. The lid sits upon the base and slides out sideways from underneath the toast rack. Presumably it's for marmalade?
