Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1940s.
There is a loop for attachment. The tools inside are revealed by pulling the base of the case, where the tools are exposed and are attached to the base. Clear hallmarks are visible on one side for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1937 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker's marks for the silversmith are also very clear for the renowned maker Sampson Mordan.
