Antique English Sterling Silver Pierced String or Twine Box / Dispenser

Description

A really attractive and hard to find little string or twine box dating to the early twentieth century.

The box is highly decorative with both the base and lid incorporating pierced or reticulated decoration all over. At the top of the domed lid is a small hole where the sting is dispensed.

Both the top and bottom of the box bear the English hallmark for Birmingham 1911.

The box remains in excellent undamaged condition measuring 2 1/2" tall with a diameter measuring 2 1/2" at widest point; weighing 1.30 ounces or 39.5 grams.
