Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
Hallmarks are visible on one end of the toast rack for the Birmingham Assay Office, with Lion Passant indicating sterling silver and maker's mark for the renowned silversmith Levi & Salaman.

A very collectable toast rack, due to its rarity and also the very charming yet quirky design!
Condition: There has been some repair where the cat on one end meets the base: a split at the corner of the base which is visible when viewed through a loupe, however, this does not detract from the item. (Please see images for verification of condition).
