A Duty Dodge 18th Century Silver Tablespoon

A rare and collectable silver serving or tablespoon from the mid 18th Century. This lovely example is in Hanoverian pattern and has a long strap heel to the reverse of the bowl. The maker's mark has been struck four times, suggesting that it was never sent to Assay and thus rendering it interesting to the collector.This was occasionally done in the latter part of the 18th Century as a duty dodge. Georgian silver tableware is always in demand and becoming increasingly difficult to find. A good collector's example from early in the reign of George III, is both desirable and sought after. Condition :- Excellent, with no dents or splits. The bowl tip is good. There are a couple of pinprick dimples to the bowl, commensurate with age and use.
