Early Victorian Large Silver Plated Bottle Coaster

A fine and superbly designed early Victorian silver plated bottle coaster. The size of the coaster is superior for purpose as it is large and has deep sides and sits on a good solid stand, and is a good heavy weight. The centre is wooden with a silver plated disc in the middle. The curved sides are wonderfully shaped and the decoration around the edge of the coaster is exquisite. Underneath the coaster has a green baize felt.

Clear silver plate marks are visible around the edge of the stand base for Elkington & Co along with a number '5466'. Silver plate marks are also clear with a date mark for 1859 (see images).

 

This is a great bottle coaster and rare in shape and size.

 

Condition: The coaster is in great antique condition. There is a very small crease around the base of the stand which we mention for accuracy!
