A Northwich Arts & Crafts Silver Sifter Spoon

A rare Arts & Crafts silver sifter spoon by the Northwich artist Amy Eleanor Stewart. Amy and her husband, Tom, worked from their home in Northwich and had pieces assayed in Chester. Tom Stewart appears in the 1901 census as a teacher, born 1882, son of Thomas Stewart and his Swedish born wife, Rose, of Headingley, Leeds. Tom married Amy Eleanor, born in 1873, daughter of Alexander Blackwood Boal, a boot manufacturer of Halifax, in 1909.

This unusual example has a lightly planished shank with wire work design to the finial and a geometrically pierced bowl. A charming and practical piece, by a sought after female silversmith. Dimensions below.
