Birmingham 1903 Stunning Solid Silver Vanity Set in Fitted Case by Famous Makers Levi and Salaman.

Description

Birmingham 1903 English hallmarked solid silver stunning and very long vanity or dressing set in the original fitted case, made by very good makers Phineas Harris Levi and Joseph Wolfe Salaman, known for their superior silversmithing.

The set comprises an unusually long set of 4 pieces, including boot and glove hooks with steel hooks, glove stretchers with ivory stretchers, and a long shoe horn with steel blade.

Size-shoe horn and boot hook are 11 inches long each, the glove stretcher is 10 inches long, and the glove hook is 2.75 inches long. The large handles are all 1 1/8 inches wide. The fitted case is 12.75 inches long by 6.25 inches wide by 1 inch deep.

All the silver is beautifully decorated with a repousse foliate leafy design, and is fitted into the original crimson velvet and silk lined leather case. I have had one similar set before, but this one is much larger.

A very lovely, unusual and collectable set, which makes a wonderful display, and would be a very thoughtful gift for Christmas, a wedding, anniversary, or other romantic occasion.

In very good condition, this set appears to have had very little use in its lifetime.
