Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The cover stands on four neat ball feet and underneath are the very clear hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1907, along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, and the maker's mark: James Fenton.

This is a very collectable antique, rare and in great collector's condition.
