The sides of the tray are slightly frilled, adding to the overall aesthetics of this item. On the side of the tray are the very clear hallmarks for the London Assay Office, along with the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver and a date mark for 1900. The silversmith's maker's mark is also clear for William Comyns & Sons.
