Antique Victorian Solid Silver Retractable Pencil Holder

Description

An unusual example of a 3-lead retractable pencil holder.

Clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1891, it has the maker's mark of Lucas Brothers Ltd. It is fashioned in a simple wrythen cylinder, terminating in a pendant loop. The three lead holes extend and retract independently of each other and are differentiated by coloured enamel markers - black, blue and deep red. It is quite stiff to open. There are a couple of small dings on the inside of the pencil holder but otherwise the silver is in excellent condition.

Length (closed): 7cm
