It was listed by The Silver Cabinet. Sold pieces stay on Sellingantiques as a record of what has passed through, and the next one is rarely far away.
The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
It is hallmarked on the side for Birmingham. The date letter is partially obscured by the howdah stand, but is it possibly for 1909. The maker's mark is for Adie & Lovekin Ltd.
There are a number of small bumps on the body of the elephant.
The howdah is firmly attached and the elephant stands squarely. The detail to the eyes and truck is sharp.
