A George II hallmarked sterling silver salt, assayed in London 1760 (some marks rubbed). It is of cauldron form and raised on three hooved supports, with shell detail. It comes with a later associated blue glass liner.
There is some corrosion to the interior of the salt, a few small dents and general wear commensurate with age.
The salt weighs 76g (2.44 t oz) without the liner.
