C19th Neo-classical Giltwood Stool or Window Seat

19th century
Description

Early C19th neo classical giltwood stool or window seat; the raised arm supports with reeded and acanthus leaf carving, with scrolled terminals, united by slender hand rails. The padded rectangular seat, newly upholstered in green silk, buttoned and with brass studded edge. The seat frame with a carved, narrow, panelled border, raised on acanthus carved, tapering, turned legs; headed with square, floral paterae. Good quality water gilding.

French circa 1820
