Description

An exquisite Edwardian, solid silver vesta case, beautifully engraved with a very attractive leaf pattern to both the front and back, with a lovely shield shaped vacant cartouche in the centre. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly and there is a good fastening loop to the top. The case has clear hallmarks visible on the inside lip of the Vesta for Chester Assay Office, with a date mark for 1905 and the lion passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark for J & R Griffin (Joseph and Richard Griffin) There are also partial hallmarks on the outside of the lid. Lovely proportions and rectangular in shape.

Condition: This vesta case is great antique condition commensurate with age.
