Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The steel hook is in lovely condition and is not rusted (as often happens with button hooks) and is marked 'Steel'. Clear hallmarks are visible on both sides of the silver handle for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1908 along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker's marks for Adie & Lovekin Ltd.
