Pair of George II Silver Salts London 1743

Description

An exquisite pair of very fine, George II silver salts. These salts are beautifully designed: Each sits on three attractive feet. There is a very delicately engraved armorial of a rearing bird, probably a Swan, to the front of each of the salts. The insides of the salts are a lovely golden gilt. Clear hallmarks and maker's marks are visible on the base.

 

Condition: Both of these salts are in great used condition.

 

Hallmarks: London 1743. Maker: Edward Wood (Master to David Hennell).

 

Measurements: Each salt:

 

Height: 3.7cm approx.

Diameter width at widest part: 7.9cm approx

Combined weight: 120 grams approx.
