This is a lovely item. A lavishly decorated silver plated ink well with its original liner.
The piece is unmarked but is likely to have been made by Elkington, as there are a number of other, fairly similar pieces on the market. The outer rim of the ink well features tableaux of hunters, horses and chariots and even the inside of the lid is wonderfully decorated. The liner looks to be unused and is free from cracks or chips.
The silver plating has worn thin in a number of places, allowing the warmth of the underlying copper to gleam through. The whole stands on a circular pedestal base.
