Description

This is a very handsome and finely crafted pair of antique Victorian solid silver dogs dating from circa 1840. The dogs, modelled as bull mastiffs, are hallmarked solid silver. The hallmark tells us they were manufactured by the silversmith Robert Garrard II of Panton Street, London. Standing 6.5cm tall, the dogs have delicately cast detail to their bodies, and stand upon a circular base with a gadrooned border. Each dog is hallmarked by Garrard.

The dogs are in excellent condition with some typical aged tarnishing to the finer areas. Combined they weigh 248 grams or 8.75oz.
