Description

This is a handsome pair of antique Victorian silver candlesticks dating from 1885. The candlesticks are hallmarked sterling silver. The hallmark tells us they were manufactured by James Kebberling Bembridge, managing director of the silversmithing company Hawksworth, Ayre & Co Ltd of Nursery Street, Sheffield. Standing 13cm tall, the candlesticks have reeded, urn-shaped sockets above a knopped stem, with a stepped square base. The undersides have base metal inserts to stabilise them.

One of the candlesticks has a very slight lean, only noticeable when they are compared closely. Otherwise they are in very good condition for their age.
