Victorian Silver Vesta Case Birmingham 1896

An exquisite, Victorian, solid silver vesta case, beautifully engraved with a very attractive scrolling leaf pattern to both the front and back, with a lovely, good sized, circular shaped vacant cartouche in the centre. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly and there is a good fastening loop to the side. The case has clear hallmarks visible on the inside lip of the Vesta for Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1896 and the lion passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark for Deakin & Francis.
