Description

A truly superb, Georgian, solid silver Stilton Cheese Scoop. The finest craftmanship of the silversmith is clearly visible. The spoon is a lovely organic shape. It has no engravings or embossing, making the visible effect even more pleasing to the eye. It is a good heavy gauge silver and very tactile to hold. Clearly defined hallmarks are visible on the back of the scoop handle for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1809 and the Lion Passant for sterling silver. The maker's marks for the Georgian silversmith Eley Fearne & Chawner are also clear.
