This is a really sweet solid sterling silver pepper pot, designed as a hot chocolate pot.
It is clearly hallmarked on the base for Chester 1896, with the maker''s mark of Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings (Frank) Shepherd. The silver is in great condition apart from a slightly wonky finial at the top of the lid. The lid fits tightly and carries a partial, conforming hallmark. The wooden handle is also a tight fit.

I have a very similar, Edwardian, pepperette for sale, which could be used as a pair.
