Silver Curved Vesta Case Birmingham 1919

1900 - 1920
Description

A lovely plain and simple solid silver Vesta case of curved design. No engravings or embossing add to the aesthetics of this case. The lid is hinged and opens to reveal clear and crisp hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1919, along with the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver and the maker's mark for Joseph Gloster Limited, along the inside lip of the Vesta. There are also partial hallmarks to the outside of the lid.

A nice weight and very tactile - nice to hold!

 

Condition: This Vesta case is in great antique condition. There is some very superficial scratching to the outside of the case that we mention for accuracy and is to be expected with age and use.

 

Hallmarks & Maker's marks: Birmingham 1919 by Joseph Gloster Ltd.

 

Measurements: 5.2 cm x 3.8 cm approx.
