Robert Bush Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

It has the Belgian silver hallmark, and is marked 950 and has the name Altenloh Bruxelles on the side and it also has a small plaque saying Altenloh Bruxelles at the rear of the base.
Belgian silver is very unusual and we have researched Altenloh and discovered that the company made 2 fabulous quality frames for the Belgian Royal family c 1914, one each for the King and Queen, and both of these frames were stamped with the identical mark Altenloh Bruxelles and 950.

As Belgian silver hallmarking doesn’t include a date letter in the same way that UK silver does, it is impossible to date exactly however I have looked at the frame in detail and I am of the opinion that it dates to the early 1900’s.

It came from a private collection of top quality frames that we recently purchased, and which we are currently in the process of adding to our website .
