The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
It is unusual to find a complete 3-part wine funnel from this period. The design is plain and un-engraved. The tang - the tab which hooks over the punch bowl or decanter - is firmly attached and well-shaped. The muslin ring, for fine straining, has a series of holes so the muslin can be secured in place. It is in excellent condition.
