Edwardian Silver Vesta Case Chester 1901

An exquisite Edwardian, solid silver vesta case, beautifully engraved with a very attractive scrolling leaf pattern to both the front and back, with a lovely shield shaped vacant cartouche in the centre. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly and there is a good fastening loop to the top. The case has clear hallmarks visible on the inside lip of the Vesta for Chester Assay Office, with a date mark for 1901 and the lion passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark for Charles Lyster & Son. There are also part hallmarks on the outside of the lid.

  

Condition: This vesta case is in very good antique condition commensurate with age.
