Serpentine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
Stephenson was hired by the Stockton and Darlington railway. The Stockton Darlington line opened in 1825. In 1829 he entered his new locomotive, The Rocket, in some trials. It won first prize and a contract to produce locomotives.
The spoon was made by William James Dingley.
Size-4.5 inches long by 1.25 inches wide.
Weight-20 grams.
A very interesting spoon and piece of history that will appeal to spoon and railroad collectors.
