Description

Birmingham 1912 English hallmarked solid silver interesting wide bowled spoon depicting George Stephenson and the steam engine, The Rocket, that began the Industrial Revolution.

Stephenson was hired by the Stockton and Darlington railway. The Stockton Darlington line opened in 1825. In 1829 he entered his new locomotive, The Rocket, in some trials. It won first prize and a contract to produce locomotives.

The spoon was made by William James Dingley.

Size-4.5 inches long by 1.25 inches wide.

Weight-20 grams.

A very interesting spoon and piece of history that will appeal to spoon and railroad collectors.

In very good condition.
