Cut Glass Silver Lidded Pot Birmingham 1900

19th century
Description

A very pretty, small, Victorian circular shaped, hob nail cut glass pot with silver lid, of lovely proportions. The fine quality of the silversmith is evident in the beautiful repousse lid, ornately decorated with lovely swirling patterns and featuring a small empty cartouch in the centre. The lid lifts off and slips on perfectly. When the lid is lifted the underneath is nicely gilded. Clear hallmarks are visible on the silver lid for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1900, along with the Lion Passant for sterling silver and marks for the renowned maker: Levi & Salaman.

Condition: The pot is in very good antique condition. There are some very slight dents to the edges of the silver lid, which I mention for accuracy. (See image 2).

Hallmarks and Maker's Marks: Birmingham 1900 by Levi & Salaman.

Measurements:

Height: 3 cm approx.

Diameter width at widest part: 4 cm approx.

Weight: 24 grams approx.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
