Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The lid lifts off and slips on perfectly. When the lid is lifted the underneath is nicely gilded. Clear hallmarks are visible on the silver lid for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1900, along with the Lion Passant for sterling silver and marks for the renowned maker: Levi & Salaman.

Condition: The pot is in very good antique condition. There are some very slight dents to the edges of the silver lid, which I mention for accuracy. (See image 2).
Hallmarks and Maker's Marks: Birmingham 1900 by Levi & Salaman.
