Inside the jug, a nice pale lemon coloured gilt is visible, adding to the very attractive overall appearance.

The very finest quality of this jug is apparent, associated with a reputed silversmith: Charles Thomas and George Fox, whose marks are very clearly visible on the base of the jug, along with hallmarks for the London Assay Office and a date mark for 1852 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver.
