A Rare Edwardian Novelty Silver Roller Skate Thimble Holder.

An extremely rare piece of Edwardian novelty sewing ware. This is a hallmarked silver roller skate with a mother-of-pearl shell. The shell is lined and padded to contain a thimble and there is a hand stitched loop, presumably for needles. These novelty pieces were the delight of Edwardian ladies and come in many forms such as pincushions etc. and sewing related items are always in great demand. A thimble is supplied, which has a registration number but no hallmark. A great collector's piece, both usable and decorative.

Condition :- Very good. There is a slight curve to the axle of the rear wheels and a very small crack near the rim of the mother-of-pearl (this is caused by the attaching wirework and is the reaction of stress to a natural product). There is some mis-shaping to the thimble rim. Shown in photos.
