Silver Vesta Case Birmingham 1903 by Arthur Cooke

1900 - 1920
Description

An exquisite Edwardian, solid silver Vesta case, beautifully engraved with lovely swirling patterns to both the front and back, with a lovely shaped vacant cartouch in one corner. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly and there is a good fastening loop on the top of the lid. The case has a gilt inside and clear hallmarks are visible on the inside lip of the vesta for the Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1903 and the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark for Arthur Cooke.

 

Condition: This Vesta case is in great antique condition.

 

Hallmarks and maker's marks: Birmingham 1903 by Arthur Cooke.

Height: 4.1 cm approx.

Width: 3.39 cm approx.

Depth: 9.52 mm approx.

Weight: 21.16 grams approx.
