French Silver-gilt Vesta & Snuff Box

Description

An interesting and high quality mid-19th century French silver-gilt combination VESTA/SNUFF BOX in good condition.

Nicely made, with engine-turned decoration and hand-engraved double crest to the centre, this has three compartments: the larger main one (snuff?); a smaller compartment with cheroot cutter and vesta striking pad, and narrow hinged one, presumably for wax vestas. Traditional French hallmarks for third quarter 19th century.
