Rare Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Salt - 1893 - The Salters Company

Description

This is an unusual and very impressive antique Victorian sterling silver salt measuring 6" (15 cms) tall x 5 1/2" (14 cms) across x 3 1/4" (8 cms) deep.

One side is applied with the Salters Company coat of arms and the other has a cartouche which is inscribed 'The Salters Company 500th Anniversary, 1394. April, 13. 1894'.

The base is engraved P.M.W.L. 1947 and also shows an armorial crest.

It's hallmarked for London 1893 with the silversmiths mark for John Bodman Carrington of Carrington & Co, Regent St, London.

With two figural handles and super decoration this would be an great addition to any collection.
