Fabulous Victorian Silver Tray, 1871

Description

A superb quality Victorian solid silver tray by Goldsmiths Alliance Ltd (Samuel Smily), hallmarked London 1871. The Goldsmiths Alliance Limited was formed circa 1866 from the established A.B. Savory & Sons, dating back to 1812.

In 1893, The Goldsmiths Alliance Limited was acquired the better known 'The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company' which latterly amalgamated with Garrard & Co in 1952.

This beautiful tray is in excellent condition, engraved to the centre with a Phoenix between foliate decoration. This is complemented by the most exquisite border. The tray stands on three lion paw feet.
